Interview with BMO Asset Management
BMO Global Asset Management (BMO GAM) is a multi-asset management business focused on meeting the needs of investors, both locally and globally. BMO Asset Management Inc. (BMO AM) is the Canadian institutional money manager with over $53 billion in total assets under management*.
BMO AM has been managing the following two Educators Funds since 2004:
- Educators Growth Fund
- Educators Dividend Fund
The Educators Growth Fund is managed by Robert Taylor, CFA, CA.
“Through fundamental research we identify companies with long-term growth potential which, combined with a methodical approach to portfolio construction and monitoring, we believe will provide superior investment returns with lower risk over the long term”, says Taylor. “The investment style is called ‘GARP’ or Growth at a Reasonable Price. That means investment in equities where we consider growth in earnings, cash flow and revenue among other measures relative to the value or market price of the stock.”
The Educators Dividend Fund is co-managed by
Phil Harrington, CFA, M.Fin, and Lutz Zeitler, CFA, MBA.
The Dividend Fund invests primarily in dividend-yielding shares of high quality Canadian companies. “For the Dividend Fund we look for dividend-paying companies with the ability to make their dividends grow over the next 1-3 years” says Harrington. Zeitler explains that, “dividend investing is about finding the stocks with sustainable competitive advantages that perpetuate strong earnings growth, which creates the foundation of sustainable dividend growth.”
Both funds are supported by a cohesive team of investment professionals and a common research platform which draws on strong fundamental analysis, solid company and industry knowledge and good management level relationships with companies. As a firm BMO AM is committed to providing excellence, integrity and quality service to our educator-specific clients.
